On August 23, 2006, our world was enriched with the birth of an amazing, creative, joyful and loving soul; our niece and Goddaughter,...

...Christina Elisabeth Kempe. We know in her lifetime she will face many challenges, she will experience heartbreak and sorrow, she will love and lose love, and she will learn and she will grow from it all. But one experience we never want her to go through is the heartbreak of breast cancer. We want her to experience a world where there is a cure, if not a total eradication of this disease. In honor of this angel, we have formed Team Christina-bina.

There is a time for everything,

and a season for every activity under heaven:

a time to be born and a time to die,

a time to plant and a time to uproot,

a time to kill and a time to heal,

a time to tear down and a time to build,

a time to weep and a time to laugh,

a time to mourn and a time to dance,

a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,

a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

a time to search and a time to give up,

a time to keep and a time to throw away,

a time to tear and a time to mend,

a time to be silent and a time to speak,

a time to love and a time to hate,

a time for war and a time for peace.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Now is the time for change

In the United States, one woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes and one will die of breast cancer every 13 minutes. An estimated 40,460 women and 450 men will die from breast cancer in 2008. Without a cure, it is estimated that 5 million Americans will be diagnosed with breast cancer — and more than 1 million could die — over the next 25 years. Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund are working hard to change these statistics, but they need our help. In August we will be participating in an incredible event called the Breast Cancer 3-Day, a walk that, for us, will take place in Boston. Over the course of three days we will walk 60 miles, we will sleep in tents under the stars, and share our meals with thousands of men and women who are as passionate about this cause as we are. But we need your help. Our team, Team Christina-bina, has pledged to raise $4400.00. Please consider making a donation to this incredible cause, and help the world come closer to finding a cure for this disease that touches all of us in one way or another. There are a few ways you can donate: you can go to the web site at

http://www.the3day.org/ and find our team’s fundraising page and make a donation online or you can call 800.996.3DAY to make a donation over the phone. No matter which way you choose, your money will be going to an amazing cause.

Thank you for your support, your prayers and your generosity. Together we can come closer to a world where no one has to lose their mother, their sister, their grandmother, their wife, their daughter, their friend, or their niece to breast cancer.

Sincerely;

Donald Francis and Barbara Dokter

Team Christina-bina
