When you create an account (and the webmaster has approved it) you can log in to the web site. When you log in, you'll be able to submit articles for publication. You can use any ordinary web browser to do these things; you don't need any special software on your home computer.

The webmaster needs to approve new accounts for a simple reason; it's a good way to avoid spam on the site.

In case you were wondering, this web site is owned and operated by Faith Lutheran Church. No company or other organization has any access to the information you provide, except by reading the web site the same way you do.

The software for this web site is called Joomla!. It's a content management system provided as open source (free) software. See http://www.joomla.org/ if you're curious about that. It's hosted by http://www.SiteGround.com/, a hosting company specializing in Joomla!-based web sites. SiteGround costs us about six bucks a month.

Notice that most of our Faith Lutheran users are assigned the "editor" role. Members of Faith's Publicity Committee have the Administrator role. Here's an example of another Lutheran church web site that uses this technology: Ascension in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. They did a nice job, and we're hoping to learn from them in the time to come.
